Is it possible to convert ES1_OfflineAccess.exe to ES1_OfflineAccess.msi or download directly from the download center?
Hello,
I need to deploy ES1_OfflineAccess.exe in my environment (Microsoft Windows Active Directory 2008, Exchange 2010 and approximately 200 clients computers). For this purpose I want to use Microsoft Windows Active directory 2008 Group Policy, but the Group Policy uses only *.msi packages.
Is it possible to convert ES1_OfflineAccess.exe to ES1_OfflineAccess.msi or download directly from the download center?
Best regards!

Hi Hristomir,
EMC Support only supports the install that is done using the executable. If Offline Access is pushed using MSI, when an issue to the support will be reported support will need to make sure same issue can be reproduced with executable provided.
Just for hint MSI is already within EXE, did you try universal extractor ? If you run EXE that also unpacks MSI to the temp folder.
Thanks,
Rajan

Hello Rajan,
when I try to extract ES1_OfflineAccess.exe with universal extractor like WinRAR, the following error popup:
"The archive is either in unknown format or damaged."
Best regards!

Hi Hristomir,
I personally find Universal Extractor (http://download.cnet.com/Universal-Extractor/3000-2250_4-75449770.html) or 7-zip more appropriate for this purpose. Otherwise one can run the installer with MSI switches that will dump MSI in system temp folder while program is running. What Universal Extractor does is, it unpacks everything.
Thanks,
Rajan

If you *need* to use the actual MSI file (I am not aware of there being any EMC docs or support for this), it unpacked to the following location for my windows 7 machine running 32-bit Outlook 2010:
C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Temp\{some long hex string}.
To obtain the MSI file:
I chose the 32-bit setup as I have outlook 2010 32-bit.
C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Temp\{some long hex string}
Hope this helps!

hristo,
We have discovered that when we tried to deploy the OfflineAccess component via an MSI file and Group Policy, the component only installed correctly if the target host already had the MS Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable SP1 on it. The target hosts that did not have this already installed, only received a "half" installation, in that the configuration add-in was the only part installed. After manually reinstalling using the executable from EMC, and choosing the repair option when prompted, the OfflineAccess component functioned normally.
