Office 2007 - Problem with shortcutted emails

Hello

We are running EmailXtender 4.81.655 and doing regular shortcuts of emails which are older than a specific age. We have Clients with office 2003 and clients with office 2007. opening shortcuts with office 2003 works well but if we try to open shortcuts with office 2007, the following happens:

The shortcutted email has the right shorcut icon and i can see the context of the email body in the preview plane. if i dubble click this mail, i can't see the content of the mail, the windows is empty. if i close this windows, the mail came correctly back into the user mailbox and i can open all attachements etc..... is this a bug or a known issue with office 2007?? if i dubble click a shortcutted email in office 2003, the mail does open in a new window i can already see the whole content there....

thanks for any feedback

regards
andre

It's not a bug with 2007. We ave hundreds of people opening shortcutted email with the 2007 client.

What are you using to pull back the shortcut? The Legato client? The Ex Search Client?

What version is the software pulling back the shortcut?

I recently upgraded my EXDX box to .655, and was running the legato app to pull back the shortcutted email. The legato app was sitting at 4.7 and once I upgraded the server, the app stopped working.

I removed the legato app and install the 4.81 EX search client, and it worked fine afterwards.

hello

we have the search-client installed on the user-clients. so they double klick the shortcutted message in outlook to pul back the emails. it makes no difference if the search-client is 4.81.655 or an older version....

any ideas?

Hi Andre,

I would say speak to support, there are different reasons why shortcut emails might misbehave, a very common reason is MAPI32.DLL version. That could give hard time to lot of applications that are dependable on MAPI and EX Shortcut add-in is one of them.

Also try by having Shortcut Add-in from 4.81.564 build, i personally found it very stable. When you will be uninstalling currently installed add-in make sure C:\Program Files\Common FIles\OTG folder gets empty if you do not have anything left in Add & Remove program section starting with LEGATO.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Rajan

Thanks Rajan

I'll have a look at the mapi dll and try to completely uninstall the client software and install earlier version. otherwise i'll open a case.

ALso try to recreate MAPI32.dll, following are instructions

Shutdown outlook
goto c:\%windir%\system32 folder
rename mapi32.dll to org_mapi32.org_dll
using command prompt goto c:\%windir%\system32
run fixmapi
now make sure you have another copy of MAPI32.DLL created
Launch outlook and test functionality

Thanks,
Raj
