CDRW/DVD Problems
About a month my Dimension 2350 CD/DVD stopped working. It no longer appeared when I looked for it under my computer. I called the troubleshooting desk and after a serious of questions they determined my player was bad.
I called sales and ordered a new player. I was sent a refurbished model which the troubleshoot department said they could not provide support. After throwing a hissy fit I was sent back to the sales department who said they could sell me a NEW model, designed for my Dimension for half the price.
$^&$#*^_(& :smileymad: :robotmad:
I ordered a new CDRW/DVD player and it arrived this afternoon.
The new model is a HL-DD-ST CCRE/DVD GCC4482
I set the jumpers to the same setting as the old and installed it.
Windows recognizes it and says it can not find the driver.
I am about to have a stroke from the high blood pressure. I dare not call the DELL phone numbers because I would probably cuss a blue streak.
Any help would be appreciated.

I appreciate the help, honest I do.
However, I have never installed or uninstalled any kind of Roxio or anything else.
I will go ahead and try these steps but I will have a fit if this fixes it.
Why wouldn't the telephone troubleshooting people be able to do this?
If this fixes it, I spent money for a new drive I did not need. That just ticks me off. I have been a DELL owner for over 10 years and wish I had a dime for every Dell system I recommended. However, my thought processes are changing.....................

Hi JL,
Since Windows found the drive, lets try a couple of standard steps:
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3.
If the above does not help, you may have to Clear the NVRAM, same CD/RW link, Section 11, article 2.
Best Regards!
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Hi RLJ,
We have seen this error many times my friend. Same CD/RW link, Section 12, article 10 or Microsoft`s version, Section 100, article 31. This is related to the Upper & Lower Filters, the articles may reference Roxio, however we have seen it with almost all third party burning programs.
Best Regards!

:smileyhappy: Your last suggestion worked.
I spent money needlessly.
I appreciate your help.

You can post the complaint for now in the General (non-technical) conference.
Dell is considering to add a separate conference specifically for complaints in the near future or at least that is their intention.
Someone in the above conference though may know of a more direct line of contact.
Take care,
Jeff
