Desktop went bang
Wife tells me desktop went bang, tripped rcd. She reset rcd, desktop won't power up. Socket is fine, cabling is fine, unit itself seems to be the issue.
is it repairable? There are a lot of photos and music etc on it so I don't really want to lose it.
Worst case scenario I suppose I buy another second hand and swap hard drive or something...
I've had it quite a few years
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Unit is optiplex 990, at least 10 years old...

Sounds like the power supply failed. Hopefully it didn't take out any internal components, like your hard drive.
Assuming that your hard drive is still operational, you can attempt to retrieve your data with another computer by using an IDE/SATA to USB adapter. Once it's connected, you can access your data off the drive as if it was a removable device.
