Dimension XPS T upgrade?

My son has an old Dimension XPS T desktop. I would like to upgrade it for him for Christmas if possible. He really can't afford a new one right now. I would like to buy him more memory and a new hard drive. Is this worth doing and if so what would you suggest. Please let me know if you need more information. Thank you!

Thank you for your help!  I went to crucial.com and went through their Memory Advisor™ Tool.  It recommended :
Module Details:
  • Crucial Part Number: CT149206
  • Module Size: 128MB
  • Package: 168-pin DIMM
  • Feature: SDRAM, PC100
  • Configuration: 16Meg x 64
  • DIMM Type:
  • Error Checking: Non-parity
  • Speed: 100
  • SDRAM Timings: CL=2
  • Specs: SDRAM, PC100 • CL=2 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 100MHz • 3.3V • 16Meg x 64

Do you think this will work ok?  Is this  low density RAM?  It also gave the standard system specs which was:

System Type:Desktop

Computer Maximum Memory768MB

Standard Memory96MB removableSlots/Banks3 (3 banks of 1)

So I need to look for a EIDE hard drive?  Are they hard to find?  I will probably order it online.  Do you know of any good places to look for one?  Can you think of anything else I should add to his computer to make it  run better and last him a little longer.  Thank you for all your help!

Memory: be careful here; it needs low density RAM, which is not common. www.crucial.com is the place to look.

Hard drive: anything 120G or less, EIDE; more than that will require a controller card.

You can often find 120G drives for $40-50 after rebates at the big-box retailers.

A 128 MB RAM module would be a very nice gift.

NOTE: Some motherboards will support more than one type, but they can't be mixed. So keep your reciept in case you need to exchange it.

There are a number of IDE hard drives out there, take your pick.

You might hint around to your son about how big of drive he needs/wants. Getting one bigger than he needs/wants could be a waist of money.

Check out the EIDE/IDE/ATA hard drives here

Any make, except Maxtor should fine, also, check the lenght of the warranty, there's one to five years on hard drives.
