Hi,

I have an inspiron 1150 and just started to have the same problem,has the same message,code 41 and all.It does not seem to read any disk,music,game, or dvd.

I read the article skybird listed but I have very little computer savy, Please post if it works for you.

Follow the steps in the Article carefully.  It will usually solve the problem.

Thanks very much.  That worked a treat.

Only thing is that my keyboard shortcuts e.g. to eject a CD still aren't working.  Any suggestions?

maybe it's a lock?

Are you using a docking station? If so there maybe a problem. Trt off the docking station. If it works, the mother board is probably damaged.
