FYI The manual was on the drive, there is no hard copy delivered with the machine. All info can be pulled from the Product Support option found under the DELL logo in the upper left corner.
the big problem is that on bootup that screen dosen't show anymore and also in Bios under Drive 0 & 2 it shows the hard drives as SATA but in the Bois Section it says "hard drive not controlled By Bios"
I think that the problem starts there, but how to fix that???
I know Dell installs the system manuals on the hard drives under their "Media Reduction Iniiative" [MRI], so I printed a paper copy and place it in a binder. I just assume that other users would be making their own copies, as well as burning all the drivers and applications, etc, to CDs, for system "crash" situations.
As far as I'm concerned, there are only two types of hard drives, ones that have failed and the rest of them, that are waiting to fail.
The above link contains the raid set up information for the 8400 series and begins on page 21. As Bev has suggested; print it out for a hard copy. All the pertinent information and drivers can be found in the Product Support drop down found under the DELL logo in the upper left corner of the page banner.
