I have a Dell Dimension 4700, the hard drive in the system died.  Ordered a new drive from Dell, installed the drive.  I do not have Raid.  I am trying to re-install the OS.  I have the disks that came with the system.  You cannot boot from the OS restore disk.  I tried a boot diskete from Dell, this will get you to a command propmpt with CD drive, try to run the setup on the CD, this gives me a message this cd cannot be run in DOS mode.  This is driving me insane,  am I missing a step?  Why would you not get a bootable OS install CD with the system?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have read through many posts here and I have tried many of the things people have suggested.
