Hard Drive : Error Code : 0142

Hello everyone,

First of all , I have a Dell Inspiron 15R (Windows 7), it currently has

an Seagate Momentus 750GB (ST9750420AS) SSD  . It all started when

3 days ago , I tried to log in as Administrator but when clicked the (Admin's icon),it suddenly

froze there and nothing happened . I've tried so many times to turn

it back on ,but It keeps on freezing. Not even the safe mode works .

After a diagnosis, it showed me an error (see the photo). Could you

please tell me what that means ? Is the hard drive crashed, do I need to replace

it ?

The hard drive has indeed failed and yes, you must replace it.

Well then thanks for the reply . Do you know if a

    Seagate Momentus Thin 500GB

would work for my laptop ?

It should, but you may want to consider another option - replace the hard drive with a solid state drive.  It'll boost the system performance appreciably.  You can find first-tier 500G SSDs at around the $120-150 price point these days (Samsung, Intel, Micron/Crucial).
