Inspiron E1505 Boot Problem

Question

I have an Inspiron E1505 that shuts down a few seconds after I try to power it up.  Have removed, cleaned their contacts an reinstalled the RAM and hard drive.  Have also checked the AC power adapter and found it to be good.  Am feeling like there may be an issue with the motherboard.  Is there a way I would be able to confirm if the problem is with the motherboard?

If the system doesn't complete POST before it shuts down - try without the battery.  If that fixes it, the battery is bad.  If not, the odds are overwhelming that it's a bad mainboard.
