manually replacing hdd with ssd
hello,
i'm interrested inbuying some laptop like xps 12 or inspiron 15z, but i absolutely want a 512gb of ssd. i would like to know if manually replacing the hdd to an ssd voids the warranty.

Hi Dom303,
The warranty on the system will not get void provided no other parts are damaged while replacing the SSD. However Dell Warranty will not support the SSD that you are upgrading.

and is it possible to move windows and everything that is pre installed directly from the laptop to the ssd?

if I buy a 512gb ssd, can I install any model/size on any laptop?

Hi Dom303,
You can install the drive if the system model supports mSATA configuration.
The operating system can be installed on the mSATA if it is 128 GB and above. However before installing you will have to disable the Intel Smart Response Technology and also change the mSATA operation.
