ughh...partition?

sorry, this might not be the right place for this ?, but im about to buy a d630 and im wondering if i should partition my hdd. ive read about linux ubuntu and i think im going to install it along with windows. do i have to have it partitioned in order to use both? if so should i have dell do it for me?

    What you can do when you order the d630 is to specify custom hard drive partition and leave the second partition unformatted.  That way, Ubuntu can be installed in the second partition.  It's up to you how to divide the hard drive.  They have a couple of options.
     
    If you don't have Dell do it, you would need a partition tool (Partition Magic or Partition Manager) to shrink the OS partition and then install Ubuntu in the space created.
