Windows won`t detect new HD

​ I bought a Samsung 500GB sata hard drive to keep my 320 Gb HD i my Dimension 9200-system company, but windows won`t detect it properly. I detected the drive through BIOS, and it shows up on screen during post, but when I try to locate it in My Computer, it displays as a CD/DVD-drive. I tried to format it through Administrative Tools, but that wasn`t possible. ​
​ I have not configured any RAID-stuff. ​
​ ​
​ Any suggestions? ​

Did you partition it in the disk manager?

No, i dont know where disk manager is.

Right click on My Computer, select Manage, select Disk Management. There you will see the drive and any partitions. You can add and delete partitions.
