ECC 6.0 - Distributed across two Servers

What is the best way to distribute ECC 6.0 across two windows servers. We have everything accept FLR.

should storagescope be on the same server as the repository or the store etc.?

At minimal you will want StorageScope on a secondary node since in 6.0 it is a fullblown database. Also depending on the size of the installation you may want to put the Store on a different host - but with 2 nodes you do not have a lot of options.

Not sure if you planned on having the Storage agents and other agents (Fiber channel, etc.) running on these 2 servers or elsewhere in the environment. You will want to split these out as possible.

The ControlCenter Planning and Installation guide goes into great detail about recommendations for how to lay things out.

Not knowing your environment I'd suggest this assuming you do not have too large (like multiple DMX-4 units, etc.):

Server 1: ECC Server, Repository, Store
Server 2: ECC StorageScope, ECC Symmetrix Agent, FCC Agent, WLA, etc.

Hi,

I tend to agree with the other comments, but a very good starting point is the ControlCenter Planning and Installation guide, and the Scalability guide, you may also want to involve EMC PS to ensure you are building a supported environment.

I would not say I have a over large environment, but I have a 5 server environment built from DL380 servers at this time.

Server1 - ECC / Server
Server2 - Store / WLA / Master / Host
Server3 - Store / Master / Host / NAS
Server4 - Master / Host - Dedicated SScope Server with own Oracle DB
Server5 - Master / Host / Vmware

We also deploy the Symm/SDM and FCC agents but on unix servers as I feel they work better in this type of environment. Just my opinion.

Hope this helps
