A task is currently in progress. Wait for the previous task to finish.

I had to perform a chkdsk on my laptop as there was a reported error:

Examining 1 corruption record ...

Record 1 of 1: Missing 10 entries in index "$R" of directory "\$Extend\$Reparse <0x1,0x1a>" ... corruption found and fixed.

The error went away and all seemed well.

Then I ran SupportAssist and when I try to run hardware scan I get:

A task is currently in progress. Wait for the previous task to finish.

but it never does finish!

The driver update option works but none of the others.

Any ideas please?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled SupportAssist several times and the Task in Progress problem persists. Are there any other ways this problem could be solved?

Like AJAssantes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Supportassist, but the 'Task in progress' problem still persists. Does anyone have a solution yet?

I have the same issue, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and updated PC but Support Assist is still saying “A task is currently in progress. Wait for the previous task to finish.” Anyone have a work around for this?

I have the same issue, using a 7320.

No Events found!
