Hi,

I am also having the same issue with my computer. Support Assist continually froze on start up, I then fully uninstalled it using UOBit uninstaller. There is no evidence of the program on my computer and yet when I use the .exe file for support assist it says that the program is already installed.

Any help from the Dell community would be great.

Thanks

Dell Tech support instructed me to:

1.  Uninstall Dell SupportAssist from Control Panel  (use search and Control Panel if you can't find it)

2.  Restart

3.  From a web browser search for Support Assist Download and from the Dell page in the middle, download SupportAssist.

4.  From your download folder or wherever that file ended up, right click and then select "run as administrator".

5.  It will install and it all seems to work on my computer.

I need help reinstalling Dell Supportassist after uninstalling it.  I have spent hours and have tried everything and Dell will not assist me since I do not have a warranty.  This is bad business and horrible customer service.  I have a three year old Inspiron 5748 with Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010.  Supportassist was not running correctly, so I uninstalled it from programs and the OS C drive.  When I attempt to reinstall it, it cancels and says it is already installed, but this program is nowhere to be found on my laptop.  Please help.  Thank you.

Current version should install fine.

Dell SupportAssist Client versions prior to 3.2.0.90 contain a vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker can compromise the vulnerable system by tricking a victim user into downloading and executing arbitrary executables via SupportAssist client from attacker hosted sites.

Customers can download software from https://downloads.dell.com/serviceability/Catalog/SupportAssistInstaller.exe

If you cannot run this as administrator you may already have been infected with malware.

When I ran Supportassist it would tell me a new version was available. I click on Update and it tells me I already have the latest version and closes. So I used to run Supportassist and tell it to skip downloading new version.

This got annoying so I unistalled Supportassist using Windows 10 uninstaller, and tried reinstalling. I downloaded the installer from Dell and it tells me I already have Supportassist installed.

I have tried all the remedies suggested here. Nothing works.

If I use File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent\bin, Supportassist appears to be installed, but I can't run it, and the Supportassistinstaller tells me I have the latest version.

UPDATE: Success at last!!!! Using Windows Search I searched for SupportAssist, it found a version. Note: I had already uninstalled it. I clicked on "run". It started loading, then said error, restart and try again. I restarted and tried again. Same thing. I again searched for SupportAssist, clicked on Uninstall. It took many minutes. I just left the computer and when I came back it had finished. I again searched for SupportAssist, it tried to download an update directly, failed, and said to download the installer. I downloaded the installer, clicked on it, it started downloading start-up files, then said error, restart and try again. I restarted the computer, clicked the installer on Run As Administrator, and this time SupportAssist installed start-up files and application correctly. I now have a functioning copy of SupportAssist 3.4.1, and many more grey hairs.
