Dell added "MSC-" prefix to Service Tag. Affects dell.com/support and SupportAssist for PCs. Service Tag with prefix not supported.

Dell took it upon themselves to add an "MSC-" prefix to my Service Tag. When I go to dell.com/support, the new service tag with the MSC- prefix added to my current service tag is not recognized by Dell. Because of this, I cannot use dell.com/support or the new SupportAssist for PCs. Service Tag is correct in the bios and also using F12 diagnostics. Also added Dell Update and that works fine. I am using an Inspiron 660 with Windows 10 Pro. Everything worked fine until Dell decided to mess with dell.com/support and update SupportAssist for PCs! Dell needs to delete the added prefix MSC- from my Service Tag and everything will go back to normal! Don't know why Dell is messing with older PCs. Trying to sell new ones? All they're doing is telling me not to buy Dell!!

With no assist from Dell, I used MS Troubleshooting Tool to delete a corrupt SupportAssist 4.0 from my Inspiron 660 desktop running Windows 10 Pro. Restarted pc and went to dell.com/support. Typed in correct service tag number and redownloaded SupportAssist. To my surprise, it downloaded SupportAssist 3.14.2. That's the same version I had before version 4.0 was installed. Only one problem with new download, I get an error when I run drivers and downloads. Click on that, no drivers available. Luckily I also have Dell Update version 5.2.0 which runs fine. Everything else on SupportAssist 3.14.2 works fine. Making progress, no thanks from Dell!
