@e_koko

I long ago uninstalled SupportAssist and Dell Update.  They cause all kinds of problems.  It is far too risky to allow SupportAssist to upgrade the BIOS.  I always download BIOS updates and drivers directly from the Dell Support website.  I check weekly.

I use the BIOS Flash method that I found out about from @RoHe .  This is an older post, but the procedure is unchanged.  Note that the USB drive must be formatted to FAT32 and no other files but the BIOS update file should be copied to it.

This method has worked reliably for me through about eight BIOS updates, until the last one, which was buggy and Dell ultimately pulled from their website.  No fault of the BIOS Flash update procedure.

It is also important to be patient.  Your computer will reboot several times, and there may be lengthy pauses.  Do not touch!  Let it do its thing.  It can be scary, but you will eventually be returned to your desktop with an updated BIOS.

I hope this helps you as much as I was helped by @RoHe .  Good luck.  Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@e_koko  Always include exact model number for your PC and version of Windows.

While the F12 Flash Update option may work for you too. Be sure you've read all the details on the support page for each BIOS version between A23 and A28 for your PC model.

Sometimes a BIOS update fails because a specific prior version has to be installed first. That requirement should be indicated on the support page. Don't know how many versions are between A23 and A28, but that sounds like a big "jump" to me so I'd check the details before trying to use the F12 Flash Update option with A28, to be safe, and in case you need one of the intermediate versions before you can install A28.

@e_koko  - BTW: without knowing the exact PC model, we don't know if the F12 menu Flash Update option is even available for your PC...
