SA Bios update crashed Precision 3680
Precision 3680 desktop crashed after Support Assist Bios update install. It totally froze after restart process. All files were backed up prior to the crash. Exhausted all attempts to fix issue. Have a recovery drive USB made in June 2024. Is it possible to download a new recovery drive which might have all Windows updates since June 2024? If that is possible could someone please provide link to make a new recovery drive. Thank you.

Hi L52:
If your computer won't boot up into Windows and you suspect your BIOS update is the cause it may be possible to flash your BIOS from a removable USB stick with an earlier BIOS version. See the Dell support articles Dell BIOS Downgrade Step-by-Step Guide for System Rollback and How to Flash the BIOS or UEFI on a Dell Desktop or Laptop with a USB Flash Drive or Thumb Drive.
If your Dell service warranty has not expired yet I'd suggest you contact Dell customer support first by clicking the blue Get Help Now button in the bottom-right corner of each page on the forum to start a Live Chat. After you type in your question an automated chat bot will ask for your email address and the unique Service Tag of your "problem" Dell computer. Once it confirms you still have a valid service warranty it should connect you to a live customer service rep.

*** ASIDE: This won't help now, but going forward I would strongly advise that you do NOT allow Windows Update or a Dell utility like SupportAssist v4.x or Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.x to update your BIOS, since any glitch during the update process can result in an unbootable system. See the instructions <here> in the SupportAssist v4.0 User Guide for disabling automatic updates to prevent an unexpected BIOS update - if you run update checks manually from the Home tab of SupportAssist this will allow you to review the list of available updates and decline any BIOS update before it starts to download.
When Dell releases a critical BIOS update that as been certified for my Inspiron 5584 I normally save the .exe installer recommended on the Drivers & Downloads tab of my Inspiron 5584 support page to my desktop, close all my open programs, and then right-click the .exe file and choose "Run as Administrator". However, the safer method is to flash your BIOS from a removable USB stick.
