Support Assist not working (again)

Question

I am experiencing SupportAssist (which I pay for) not working yet again. It tries to load but after a period of hanging about just a blank page appears. I have had enough of jumping through the hoops backwards and forwards the last few days trying to get it to work through the various help scenarios and getting absolutely nowhere and being told there is no one available currently to help either.

For some reason or another I have two apps showing on my system, one is 5.0.2.2900 dated 11/04/2026 at 935MB and the other is 5.0.1.0 dated 02/06/2026 at 138MB which is the only one that can be uninstalled. The other when trying to uninstall throws up a Window info. box telling me "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable", plus referencing a folder containing the installation package "SupportAssist_64.msi" which shows once as C:\WINDOWS\SystemTemp\SupportAssistAgent\ plus a whole stream of letters and numbers and another as C:\users\my name\AppData\Local\Temp\

SupportAssistAgent\ etc. etc..

In no way do I have the ability or real inclination to delve to deeply into the depths of computer tech. to try and alleviate my problem, but wonder if anyone can tell what can be done that is relatively easy (if there is such a thing?).

Good Afternoon! Could we try and uninstall it using this link to the microsoft tool for uninstalling? We want to select the windows 10 and download the tool. it should also be able to run on windows 11. Once uninstalled can we reinstall it to see if that resolves the issue?

Thanks for the reply but I have just "successfully" reinstalled the SupportAssist. I had on my system the free CCleaner program which I use sporadically just to trundle through and see what it finds that can be dealt with. It normally informs me that I have numerous outdated drivers etc. which I ignore as that is the paid for version but noticed it had an uninstall button also so thought I would give that a try and see what happens and lo and behold the 5.0.2.2900 935MB version was removed. So I tried the SupportAssist installation and after a bit of thought it eventually downloaded. I am obviously relatively happy for the moment but not counting chickens just yet.

Just an aside, but if you don't want to use tools like Disk Cleanup or Storage Sense that are built into your Windows OS then I'd suggest you start looking for a replacement for CCleaner. The CCleaner v7.x utility was originally released in October 2025, and aside from ongoing complaints about its poor design, users are still posting in the CCleaner for Windows forum about how a third-party application and/or Windows system files were damaged after running CCleaner v7.x.

I've used the Custom Clean feature in earlier editions of CCleaner for over two decades to do a quick cleanup of things like temporary files, recent document lists and browser cookies, but after reading so much negative feedback from users who upgraded to CCleaner v7.x I've decided to stop using CCleaner.
