Support Assist taking up too much storage
My Support Assist app is currently using around 180gb of data, about 160gb of which are located in the "reports" folder. Are these files I need, or is there a way to delete them?

Hi w.schmidt:
It's been 3 weeks since your last post. If you have been updated to the latest SupportAssist v4.10.6 (rel. 04-Dec-2025) and that doesn't purge the backlog of files accumulating in your hidden C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist\Agent\Reports folder then uninstalling SupportAssist should (at least in theory) remove C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist\Agent\ and all its contents. If it doesn't it should be safe for you to manually delete the entire C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist\ folder once SupportAssist is uninstalled and you have restarted your computer.
NOTE 1: SupportAssist v4.10.x has two components called "Dell SupportAssist" listed at Settings | Apps - the ~ 880 MB main application and a smaller ~ 135 MB UWP (Universal Windows Platform) app which includes the user interface (see Valinger's 13-Oct-2025 image in their topic 2 Dell SupportAssist apps). If you are uninstalling SupportAssist manually (i.e., without the use of a software removal tool like Revo Uninstaller) I'd suggest you uninstall the main Dell SupportAssist application from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features first, restart your computer, and then uninstall the Dell SupportAssist UWP app if is still listed at Settings | Apps. The Dell tech support video Dell SupportAssist Clean Reinstall also includes sections on how to use Microsoft's Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter Tool, how to run commands from an elevated Command Prompt console to remove any stray SupportAssist services left behind in Windows Services, and lists a few locations (e.g., the hidden C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist folder) where remnants of SupportAssist v4.x might still remain after a Control Panel uninstall.
NOTE 2: I prefer to uninstall Dell applications using Revo Uninstaller Free in Aggressive Mode, which usually does a good job of removing stray hard drive files and registry entries that are often left behind when you uninstall from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features or Settings | Apps. The only drawback is that many Dell applications share common components like Dell Client Management Service, Dell TechHub service and Dell Core Services, so if you use Revo Uninstaller Free in Aggressive Mode to uninstall a Dell application like SupportAssist v4.10.x or Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.x you could inadvertently damage other Dell software that would need to be reinstalled.

Hi w.schmidt:
I removed all SupportAssist-related programs from my Inspiron 5584 after my service warranty expired because they were too buggy and consumed too much RAM and CPU (see my 08-Feb-2025 post in ygil's BSOD Issues After Windows Updates for further details) so apologies in advance if the following doesn't help you solve your problem.
What is the version numbers of your Dell SupportAssist v4.x program shown at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features, and what is the full path of the "reports" folder using ~ 160 GB of your disk space? There is a well-known bug in Dell SupportAssist Remediation v5.5.x (a.k.a., Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery or System Repair) where the amount of disk space in the hidden folder at C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\SystemRepair\Snapshots can sometimes grow to 100 GB or more when this software fails to purge older Dell system repairs points (see my 27-Jan-2025 post in Borja14's Problems With Storage) but I haven't noticed anyone else posting in this forum about SupportAssist v4.x accumulating files in a "reports" folder.
When you post back also let us know your Dell computer model, Windows operating system [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver to find the version and OS build number], antivirus, and BIOS version. To find your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to display your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Version / Date" in the summary. Also let us know if your Dell service warranty has expired.

@w.schmidt ,
I concur with @lmacri : Get rid of SupportAssist. I long ago uninstalled it from both of my computers, after the warranties expired, and Dell Update as well. I check for updates for my Dell computers manually, going to the Dell Support website and entering my Service Tags. Then I choose which updates I WANT, not everything that is available.
NOTE: I am not a Dell employee, nor do my comments represent Dell in any way.
Regards,
Phil

@lmacri Thanks for the reply. The folder is C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist\Agent\reports. I attached an image showing the data it's using. I'm on Dell SupportAssist 4.10.1.42635. I am on Windows 26220.7070. I am fine deleting the app, I just want to make sure it isn't something important.

Hi w.schmidt:
Does Settings | Windows Update | Windows Insider Program show your Win 11 v25H2 machine is enrolled in the Windows Insider Preview program (i.e., do you see an option there labeled "Stop getting preview builds")? If you aren't sure see the Microsoft support article How to Preview Windows and the Pureinfotech video Leave Insider Program and stay on Windows 11. According to the 07-Nov-2025 Microsoft blog post <here> your OS build 26220.7070 was a Windows 11 Insider Preview build for the Dev and Beta release channels, and Dell does not guarantee that their software will work properly with Insider Preview builds.
NOTE: According to the release information <here> the latest stable build released for Win 11 v25H2 on 11-Nov-2025 was KB5068861 / OS Builds 26200.7171.
If you are certain you are enrolled in the "normal" stable release channel for Win 11 v25H2 I can only speculate why you have files accumulating in C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist\Agent\reports. There is a known bug in the current Dell SupportAssist v4.10.1.42635 that causes internet connection problems to the backend Dell servers that could (at least in theory) cause SupportAssist to fail to send telemetry data reports back to Dell (see employee DELL-ChrisM2's 22-Oct-2025 SupportAssist 4.10.1, can't reach the internet right now pinned at the top of this forum board) but AFAIK this bug only affects machines running Windows 10.

@lmacri Yes I am aware I am on the insider build. I have done so for a few years now and have no issues prior. I do not have a warranty on my laptop as it is over two years old now. At this point I just want to get rid of the software as it poses no benefit to me and only takes up storage/ram usage. Is it dangerous to delete this folder or can I remove it?

Hi acousticcl:
Just out of curiosity, what is your Windows OS and current SupportAssist version, and what is the size of your hidden C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist\Agent\Reports folder?
That is the folder consuming high amounts of disk space on w.schmidt's system.
