Unexpected error occurred. Please try again

Originally SupportAssist updated to the new look and version, which prevented me from logging in to my account in Support Assist. I followed Dell's instruction to uninstall SupportAssist from my device and install it again, which seems to have downgraded the version to what I have now (Version 3.14.2.45116). Every time I try to "Get drivers & downloads", the checking for updates remains 0% for about a minute, and then an error message shows, "An unexpected error occurred. Plesae try again". I have tried to uninstall and install SupportAssist multiple times for over a month now, and I always get this error. I have another Dell device that does not run into this problem.

How can I fix this to get this service working again?

version 4.0 is pulled back due to it's bugs so if you remove it, it will be 3.14 in next install.

Run this fixit to remove SA

If you have Dell Update app installed. Uninstall that as well.

Reboot PC

Delete Program data/Dell/DellDatavolt.

Uninstall .NET Runtime 6 & higher versions

C:\ProgramFiles\dotnet\shared\Microsoft.NETCore.App delete everything from here.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\dotnet\Setup\InstalledVersions\x64\sharedhost delete this registry key

Reboot.

Install SupportAssist

@XPS_Man I appreciate your help.

I followed your instructions step by step but the SupportAssist will not install at all now. The installer runs for about 10 minutes and then posts the following message, "We ran into a problem. Restart your PC, then try again.". I tried restarting multiple times without any luck.

Any recommendations?

@XPS_Man Update to my last message: I had to install .NET runtime again before installing SupportAssist, which allowed me to install it again.

The original problem persists.

@ZeusSteinarsson Any VPN ?

can you check with Dell Update standalone app

Both Supportassist and Dell Update use Dell client management service to check for drivers updates. If Dell Update also gives you the same issue, than we need to reinstall SA again and delete Dell client management service manually from REGEDIT
