about symcfg "applications"

can someone please explain what is "registered applications" in symmetrix context? as returned from the commands
symcfg list -applications -sid 0xx

Node079 192.168.0.1 SYMCFG EMC corp 6.3.0.86 (R)
SYMCFG EMC corp 6.4.0.19 (R)

what is counted an an "application"? why one host MAY have multiple applicatons?

Thanks.

applications that provide some kind of intergration with Symmetrix or underlying functionality. For example i have a host that is loaded with Solutions Enabler, Timefinder intergration module for Exchange and VSS provider ..when i run command you mentioned on my Exchange server i get this:

Server_A 10.120.30.23 RDBMS EXCHANGE EMC Corp 8.0.535.0 -
VSS Provider EMC Corp 3.2.0.0 -
                              ResourcePak_TEIM EMC Corp 4.0.0.32 -
                              storapid EMC Corp 6.4.0.0 -

on my server running EMC Control Center i see this
ecc 10.120.30.45 ECC EMC Corp 5.2.0.4 -

                              SYMCONFIGURE EMC Corp 6.4.1.0 -

                              SYMMASK EMC Corp 6.4.1.0 -
