Encrypt Data on some volumes

can we encrypt data on some volumes on DMX4 ?

not natively, although you can use PowePath encryption module on the host side.

dynamox, as usual, is correct. You can't encrypt directly with the DMX. For PowerPath encryption, you can see http://www.emc.com/collateral/software/white-papers/h6019-powerpath-encrypt-with-rsa-wp.pdf for more information.

There are also encryption appliances that you can use that are external to the Symm that encrypt data flow, you can see http://www.emc.com/collateral/software/data-sheet/h2265-storage-encrypt-design-implement-ds.pdf for additional information.

CISCO and Emulex say they will have SAN encryption by year end. Both currently have TAN encryption and Emulex should be in beta by now.
