perma cache bit in BIN file

Hi,
I noticed during last upgrade DMX-3, that in BIN File ¿perma cache enable¿ flag is set to ¿NO¿.
In other way I used mainframe tools (JCL) to retain some datasets in ¿perma cache¿. In a output of JCL there was information that some tracks was moved to cache, and after RELEASE command ¿ tracks was released from cache. It looked OK.

Questions:
1. Is the information form JCL correct ?
2. Should I enable first ¿perma cache option¿ in bin file ?
3. Is this operation (YES/NO) online ?
4. What exactly means this option in BIN file ? Maybe this option is obsolete ?

P.S.
This situation is similar like with ¿Cache DASD Write¿ option. EMC recommended several weeks ago to disable this option in BIN file, but z/OS still shows that CFW is active and that some track are still ¿use¿ CFW

Regards
Marcin

Marcin,

If your JCL option is working for you and getting the work done as you want, keep on with it. If you want more of a WLM type or LPAR application to do the work and you want to remove all the perma cache steps in your JCL's, pursue that with the local EMC MSS for changes and options.
