Question about SUN EMULEX HBA

Hi

I just installed a Sun Server T5220, 2 Sun Emulex HBAs SUN part number SG-XPCIE1FC-EM4 and Solaris 10, I know that the driver for this HBA's is included in the solaris, I also have a DMX-4.

First Question: do i need to download and install the emulex driver from www.emulex.com ?

The second question is:

If I have a SUN Emulex HBA with solaris Driver do i need to do the binding?, i mean, If I have a Emulex HBA I need to install lputil tool in order to do binding, after that I have to make changes in the sd.conf file.

In this case what am i going to do? do i need to do binding and make changes in sd.conf file? or what?

Best regards

AFAIK when you buy HBA from Sun, you have to use Sun's drivers (Leadville). No need to download or install Emulex drivers.

Be prepared to huge targets :D

Solaris drivers do use SSD instead of good old SD kernel driver. SSD will add/remove devices dynamically (no files to change, no reboot required). Persistent binding is removed at its root. Persistent binding means you want to bind persistently a target to a storage port (identified by its wwn). With SSD the target IS the WWN of the storage port .... ;-)
