Briank I think that most of this thread is closer to a joke then what you may think
However I think that sharing knowledge is at least GREAT. That's why I usually post commands and their expected output .. or even small scripts that may help you in daily jobs
you already have a tool for that in ECC and its light version SMC. Solutions Enabler is getting more and more powerful with every revision ..if i need to build 40 4-way metas i just run a script to create my symconfigure files ..no fancy gui can come even close to how fast that can be done with CLI
We may be joking about this, but I am serious about wanting to see how others use scripts to manage the sym. As a newbie to the symmetrix world I am trying to learn the scripting side of common tasks and examples of scripts for management and automation of tasjs would be a great help to a lot of us
I use the array controls guide, array management cli guide, and cli reference for solutions enabler and they provide some useful examples and explanations of commands but there is not much material on the automation of tasks or complex management tasks.
Is anybody here going to EMC World that would like to meet up and talk about symcli scripting? I've written quite a few reporting and automation scripts and could demo some of them to give an idea of how we benefit from scripting.
Cubicle ? Really ? In Europe I've never seen such a place..... I think a cubicle is soooo American.... (I read "Dilbert" too ) So you live in a cubicle ? Are you cube like shaped now ?
You call that short ? Well... if you think of all others who are flying in from Europa, 5 is quite short yes, but 5 isn't fun.... 12 is not even close to fun
I see lot of techies out there with nice conversation from start to end almost covering all aspects, is there some who can help/share their scripts for symcli/SE.
