Solution Enabler 7.2 Release Notes Questions
I am looking at moving to VMAX Enginuity 5875. As part of
this process, I want to get ControlCenter 6.1 UB7 up to Solution Enabler
7.2 and UB9.
There are some questions I have that I want to better understand and
would appreciate anyones input.
1) When I go to download SE 7.2, it shows
"Solution Enabler 7.2 - 32-bit only Supported with ControlCenter"
What does this mean?
Does it mean that SE 7.2 is no longer supported on 32-bit Windows
unless you have ControlCenter running on that 32-bit OS?
2) In the Release Notes for SE 7.2 on page 49 under the "Gatekeeper
sizes in a Windows clustered enviornment", It states that
"For Windows platforms in a clustered environment, gatekeeper devices must be a minimum of 8MB in size and have a signature."
All our hosts use 6 cylinder GKs which is about 2.81 MB and I thought this was pretty standard. Does this mean
that I can not upgrade these Windows Clusters to SE 7.2 until I replace all the GKs with 8 MB GKs?
Does anyone know why this is?
Ever since we have been building clusters on SE 6.1.1.1 to 7.1.1.18 we have used 6 Cyl GKs...why the change?
Any insight would be appreciated?
Chris

Addressing question 1...
EMC Control Centre is a 32 bit application and as such needs the 32 bit version of Solutions Enabler for proper integration. It does not mean that the OS running SE needs to be 32 bit. The 32 bit version of SE can quite happily run on a 32 or 64 bit OS.

I appreciate your input...
I guess I was reading too much into it.
Odd that EMC would call it out in
the header like that and not just mention it
in the release notes...
Thanks
