SYMCLI In Offline Mode Issue- "gatekeeper devices has an error"

I am having issue using symcli at offline mode, the error msg shows that:
" the gatekeeper devices (while using the Base Daemon) has an error.."
i digged into the log file here is the actual error msg:
"iFindandOpenGate Failed to open pooled Gatekeeper: The specified array id is not known(xxxxxxxxxx)"
But there is one time i can query the bin db, then after close the command line window and reran it failed and give me above msg.."

thanks if anyone can help... is it because of the daemon?

Hmmmmm, we had the same error on live symcli actions, (we never run anything offline). Why would you run cli commands offline other than to get familiar with using symcli ?

practice scripting stuff against the database. Playing around with production database may adversely affect your employment :D

Well.... Until this week I didn't even know you could pratice against an offline db.... And besides that: people over here except the fact that we don't have a DMX-to-play-around-with and don't even know about another solution. So let's get that lab DMX anyway ;)

Innovite,

Check out Knowledge Base Articles:
EMC162479 - symmask -sid xxxx list logins -v -dir all -p all (from a different server attached to the same Symmetrix)
EMC117845 - symcfg remove -sid symm_ID (command to remove the old Symm from the DB, but caution before using it)

Please read the Knowledge Base Solutions in all before you progress as to see if either or both are helpful.

There is one more that may relate if you had an issue like a Server reboot in the middle of running the symcfg discover. That Knowledge Base Solution is EMC129906.

Best Regards,

Michael

p.s. glad that you had figured your issue out.
