AFAIK SymMerge is a restricted tool, available only to EMC employees.

STP = Symmetrix Trends of Performances.
TTP = Text version of performances data
BTP = Binary version of performances data

Both TTP and BTP are a subproduct of WLA. STP was a product of a tool running on Service Processor but with recent Solution Enabler we introduced "storstpd" (a not-that-stupid daemon) that collects STP data also on the host.

Interesting side note - STP appears to use TTP/BTP formats and can be read into WLA. We are using this setup for a site that is outside of our firewall and unable to work with ECC/WLA due to software limitiations (have an RFE in for that)

It is kind of convulated to get at the file, but it does work.

As long as you have access to the internal EMC network, and you are SPEED certified, there is no reason you can't have access to SymmMerge.

STP data can be collected by any host running solutions enabler.

If you can get to http://speed.corp.emc.com/ then the process is posted on that site (internal).  Under the folder "training" then "SPEED Guru Qualification"

You have to pass an exam, and have permission from your management.
