Symmetrix Device Masking for VMWare Host

Question

Hi,

In Clarion we assign host id for the Lun for the VMWare Hosts. Do we need to assign the host id for DMX device. I am new to the DMX and VMWare.

If yes could you please give me Steps on how to do this.

1. You need the next command from solution enabler:.
- symmcfg discover
- symmask -sid xxx list logins ( Here you can see the new WWN for your VMWARE).
- symmaskdb -sid xxx list db (You can see all devices configurate in your box)
- symmask -sid xxx -dir xx -p x -wwn add devs xxx,xxx,xxx......
- symmask -sid xxx refresh (For save the configuration)

You need the check the setting in your fibre port:
- An FA is shared by Windows and VMware hosts, set the SCSI3 flag for VMware via masking. Run the following command via SYMCLI:
symmask -sid SymmID -wwn wwn -dir # -p # set heterogeneous on VMWARE
