VMAX Autoprovisioning for large VMware estates.

We are about to migrate our VMWare estate to Symmetrix VMAX storage (Eng 5875 SYMAPI 7.2).  It runs on 48 blades each with 2 HBAs, that is 96 wwpns in total. We intend to use a single Storage Group and initially thought we would define one initiator group for the whole estate with a cascaded initiator group for each blade, but the VMAX only allows 32 cascaded initiator groups. We think we have 2 options.

A.  Single mask view with an initiator group for the estate containing 3 cascaded initiator groups each containing 32 wwpns (16 blades).
B.  A separate mask view and initiator group for each Blade.

We prefer option A but would welcome posts from anyone else who has Autoprovisoned a large VMWare estate from a VMAX or can provide links to relevant guidelines.

vSphere 4.1 only supports 32 nodes per cluster, how are you going to have 48 nodes in one cluster ?

Two clusters sharing the same storage.

No, but If they did I, can see that option A would not allow maping a seperate boot disk for each esx. I fact to do that we would probably have to set up three mask views for the estate to provision the shared storage and 1 mask view for each ESX to provision the boot disks.

yep. Option A looks good to me , one masking view that contains 3 cascaded init groups, port group and one storage group. Don't forget to use "consisten_lun" option.
