ZFS Guidelines

Question

Might be posted in the wrong thread - so apologies if it is. Has anyone come across any guidelines/suggestions for the use of ZFS with DMX (and CLARiiON) All we have in the Jan ESM is a lot of spurious entries in the notes, stating that 'EMC supports ZFS Version 3 or higher without Snapshot and Clone features.' I'm more interested in Best Practice for use, as you would expect and get for things like Veritas etc. Anyone actually using ZFS on an EMC array yet? thanks

You may want to ask in the 'Host Software, other Host Software' category for this. From what I have found in documentation is already what you have listed.

I will inquire more in regard with Symmetrix for you and reply when I have that information.

To follow up on the Symmetrix side, nothing special that is needed or suggested for support of ZFS. We configure for a SUN host on the Directors, etc.

EMC supports ZFS in Solaris 10 11/06 or later. Snapshot and Clone are only supported through SUN.
