Accessing the local BMC through Windows
Server: Dell PowerEdge 1950
OS: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, XP, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition R2
Hello,
I need some clarification. I installed the IT Assistant CD to get hold of IPMISH.exe which works great. I can move it to any computer, on any OS, and access any BMC. However I cannot access the BMC that is local on the host machine.
I know that if I install Server Administrator CD I can use the OMREPORT.exe or use Windows 2003 server R2 with IPMITOOL (using interface ms) to access the local BMC. But both are dictated by the OS and in the case of OMREPORT.exe is registered to Windows.
Does anyone know if it is possible to have a certain software (an exe and driver etc) that is able to access the local BMC but also independent of the OS. So I am asking if there is an exe file that can be used on 2003 and XP on a Dell Server 1950 and access the local BMC.
Any help would be much appreciated I have spent a lot of time on this and have got no where.
Thanks.
