Activate Wake on LAN

Hello

We have to activate Wake on LAN in the BIOS of all our clients (1000 Optiplex, 500 Latitude). At the moment it is mostly deactivated.

Is there a way to do this fully automatically? Over Openmanage you can only change the BIOS settings of one machine at the same time, i think.

Any good ideas?

Thank you

Dominik

You can use the Dell Client Configuration Utility.  See the instructions here on the support site:

If you have never used premiersupport before you will have to register with a service tag, but it is free.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, this is exactly what i need !

But now i have another problem with some Latitude C500. I cannot WOL bring to work. I've enabled the BIOS setting and installed newest ethernet drivers (3Com Mini PCI), but WOL didn't work. If i turn off the laptop, the LED flashlight at the network connector turns also off. The systems did'nt accept any WOL Packets then. On Optiplex Systems or with a docking station the LED continues with flashing, when the system was powered off.

I installed latest BIOS (A23), but it didn't make a difference. There is also no proble m with the network infrastructure, because Optiplex systems at the same network port are working with WOL.

But there is a interesting point in the 3Com Diagnostic Utility. In the NIC Information it says there is NO "Remote Wake-Up Connector".

Any ideas here?

Dominik:  I don't have a solution, but you might try posting the question in the Optiplex Netowrk forum at http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=oplex_network If you cannot find anything there you will probably have to call tech support.
