Attaching Quantum Superloader 3 via LSI mini-SAS

I'm building a system to trial Veeam and have a tape storage query.

I have a Dell R630 server running Windows Server 2019 and a Quantum Superloader 3 LTO-8.
They are connected via a mini-SAS cable running into a LSI SAS2 2308 Mustang controller
Windows can see the controller under its 'Other devices' and under the Storage Controllers in device manager.
Windows doesn't see either the tape drive or a Media Changer.

Does anyone have any experience of these cards? There doesn't seem to be any way to configure them during boot. I've poised ready to strike ctrl-C during boot process but nothing has appeared.
Any suggestions much appreciated

Hello Japandy,

You may have to do trial and error.  I don't see we have validated that controller for the R630.

LSI SAS2308  is supported on Precision T7610/R7610 running the following Operating System: Windows 7-32 bit.

I could recommend make sure Chipset, BIOS and iDRAC are up to date:

Please let me know how it goes.

Thank you Charles for getting back to me. Would I be correct in saying that the Dell 12GBPs SAS card is validated on the R630?

I have checked that the BIOS and chipset were up to date. The iDRAC did need an upgrade which I performed yesterday. I'm afraid I don't see the tape robot nor the tape drive in Device Manager of Windows. I know the Superloader is working as I have successfully connected it to an older (2011 vintage!) DPM server.

Hello Japandy,

As Marco indicated Dell SAS 12Gbps HBA is validated for the R630.

You should get a low profile:

Also check your installed in the correct slot 1. Slot Priority page 103-104
