Cannot open server administrator page on local machine but from remote machine

Question

Hi,   I have a new dell pe2950 with windows 2003 R2 SP2 x64 standard edition. I setup the newest server administrator. If I double click the link on the desktop or if I type in the url https://localhost:1311 I always get an error 'Appliance Error (internal error)' page returned from ie6. The same page will be returned if I replace localhost with the real hostname.   But if I do this from remote (another machine) it works fine.   I already included this url's into the local intranet zone.   What did I forget?   Thank you Claudia

Try adding the url to truseted sites, or try using IE6 .

Hello,   thx for the tip but doesn't work too. I already reinstalled the application but still the same issue. Actual, I think it  must be realted to the 64bit version because I have a couple of other server with windwos 2003 without having such a problem.   Anyone else an idea?   Thx Claudia

Just in case, check your hosts file.  There should be one line in there about localhost and that's it.   Otherwise, you are having a problem with your browser.  Adding itself to the trusted site list often helps, as long as the security settings for that list are as low as possible.
