Cannot run IT Assistant from Desktop icon

Hi,

ITA 8.8 will not run from the icon...Message is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and diagnose leads to "The device or resource (MyServer) is not set up to accept connections on port "2607"."

What is the fix for that?

Thx,

John Bradshaw

Thanks for posting!  Here are some things you can check.

First, login to the ITA box and try "https://localhost:2607" in the address bar of your browser.  This assumes that you installed ITA to use the default port of 2607.  If that works, you can replace localhost with the name of the server for the second attempt.  If that works, then just delete the desktop icon and drag that link to your desktop.

If that doesn't work, go check on the DSM IT Assistant services.  One will be the web server service, make sure it is started.  If not, try to start it, wait a minute, and see if it is still running.  If it is not running, check for port conflicts on 2607 or security programs that might shut it down.

Thx Jeff.

Neither DSM service is running. Says Could not start....Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Not sure what group that is, but it may be a firewall issue. Shall check with the Security guys.

Thx,

Hi,

I've given up on this. Works fine on XP, but I cannot get it working on a server.
