Dell OpenManage IT Assistant - throws a 'dummy'

We are using Dell OpenManage IT Assistant to keep track of over 80 dell servers -

We have set up the Alert Actions to send us an email - Filter = "All Server problems" -

however several times day from various systems - we get emailed "Severity:Critical, Message:System is down" - upon further investigation - we find the server is not down and is working all okay - -From the Alerts messages we can see the period from server is down to "System is up" is about 4 seconds.

Any suggestions as to what the cause could be and a possible solution

many thanks - mart

Thanks for posting!  A system will show up as "down" if ITA tries to contact that system and does not get a response on a Status Polling request.  If you go to Discovery & Monitoring -> Status Polling Configuration, you can set it to go slower and on a longer interval, which can sometimes fix that problem.

Did some checking of the existing set up -

Speed was set to 2 of 10 ( 10 is the fastest)

and 20 minutes was the status polling interval

so did some more checking around - as servers are discovered by defining specifi IP address - looked on the properties and spotted the ICMP Configuration time out was 5 ms - so have set to 500 ms
see if this cures the problem -
