Dell OpenManage V. 6.5 managed NODE installed. Can't make settings changes...won't accepy my Admin Credentials.

My Dell OpenManage 6.5 Managed NODE application installed OK, finally.  I had to force down some services and restart the server during the uninstall of the previous OMSA instance (it would no longer work, so I elected to reinstall).  Now, though, I can't save/make any changes through the browser interface.  The browser instance won't accepy any of my Admin Credentials when the popup asks for them.  I am shown as the Administartor in the brower window, top left.

I can see everything I need to see in this managed node, while logged in as administrator to this server.  I, however, cannot make any task requests or save changes to, lets say, SMTP server settings or anything like this, as when I am prompted for username and password, OM will not accept either of the Doman admin or local admin credentials.  Is there possibly an old set of credentials that this software has retained and is looking for to allow admin tasks, etc?

Note: I did have to uninstall the previous iteration of OM because after some windows updates I could no longer user the OM Server Administrator software.  It would not "see" the machine and components correctly when i forced in a web address and also it said I needed the correct default browser, when I double clicked the Server Administrator icon iteself.  All of that is corrected now accept the login credentials issue, described above.

Hi,

What model server is it? Are all of the services running? You might want to try uninstalling again and then rebooting and making sure that everything is gone and then install it again. You could also try making a new admin account to test and see if that works correctly.

This has been a problem for over 10 years and I am surprised that Dell has ignored it.

First it is suspected that if you use an underscore in your server name that this causes the problem.

I have a server that is a Dell poweredge 2900 the server name is SQL_SERVER.

Until today I was running OpenManage Administrator 6.2. I had your problem

I really jus minutes ago updated my OpenManage Administrator to 7.4 and applied Patch 7.4.0.2.

PROBLEM IS STILL THERE.

Solution and it worked for both versions.

Click on the shortcut to open up the Web Page.

Once you open the webpage it should have a URL that looks like the following after https:// but in place of SQL_SERVER which is my machine it should have your machine name.

sql_server:1311/OMSALogin?msgStatus=null

To fix the situation change the URL by deleting the server name and replacing it with "localhost" in my case the url looks like this:

localhost:1311/OMSALogin?msgStatus=null

If this works then you are good to go. Here are a few tips then.

I have another identical server that does not have an underscore in the in server name and I do NOT have to do this "fix"

To avoid "There is a problem with this website's security certificate". page that will pop up at the beginning when you open the administrator webpage I add the certificate to my Certificate store. The only problem is that the certificate has the server name in it and on my underscore named server this does not work, I have to just  select "Continue to this website (not recommended)." when I open up the admin on this server. I am guessing it is because the certificate refers to the name of the server SQL_SERVER and I don't know if it is part of the bug or replacing the name with localhost in the URL that  stops the certificate once stored from being accepted by the web browser..

Third, DELL this has been a problem for 10+ YEARS. why can't you fix it?????
