Device validation command failed with error message problem
Hello,
recently using IT assistant i have updated server administrator from 5.5 to 6.1 on 5 servers. They are all the same model. (2850). I then tried to send out a firmware update package using software updates in ITA. When sending out the package in ITA, on two of the servers i get the following error message:
Device validation command failed with error message:The update agent returned invalid XML.
I have uninstalled 6.1 on the two servers, and reinstalled server administrator 6.1 again manually. Still no luck. I can't find any information on this error anywhere. SNMP is configured properly, my credentials are valid and entered in properly. I'm not sure as to what would be causing this problem.
edit: i should add that ITA is picking up the two servers in question with no problems. Inventory and status executes properly. Server administrator is running fine on these two servers as well. Everything works except for the fact that i cannot push out updates.

well i called up dell support. The first guy told me to update the bios and bmc firmware and raid controller firmware. Did that as the other servers had more up to date bios. Thought that would fix the problem. It didn't so i called back. I told the guy that i wanted to push ou the bmc update package. He didn't understand the point of doing that since i had already updated manually. I told him, that the reason i wanted to do that is to see in the execution log that the update would be skipped because the firmware is up to date. I'm not getting that message however. the update doesn't even get executed because within a span of 20 seconds ( were on fiber) i get the same error message as before. I dont think this is hardware specific ( 2850s) as all the other 2850's updated no problem. Just these two are having issues .
It assistant is getting all the info from server admin correctly as there are no warnings or any missing information.
the funny thing is, it assistant had no problems when i had 5.5 on these two servers before. I wanted to update all the servers to 6.1 ( some were at older versions) I was able to actually update server admin 5.5 to 6.1 by pushing the update to the servers using ITA and it works no problem.

i deleted everything from the itassistant\repository\ITA and itassistant\repository\Online folders in order to download everything from scratch... trouble is... no matter how many times i try to synchronize... it doesn't download anything... is it because i deleted the xml file that was in there as well??
any ideas on how to force a redownload of everything?
