Hello chrisduk112

No, there is not a lot to the setup. After you configure the network settings via CTL D you should be able to connect to it the same way you connect to the iDRAC 6/7.

One difference is that the DRAC 4 does not have the option to share a port with the integrated NIC. You have to connect a network cable to the dedicated iDRAC port in order to allow network communication.

Thanks

also

if i change to DHCP it gets a IP 192.168.1.23 but that doesn't ping or respond on web browsers.

HI

i have the same on a few R200's with the DRACs not responding to Ping.

I have a dedicated network cable in to DRAC card as well as the LAN on the server.

I've just setup another one here in our office for test setup and same issue, the IP dont ping or available over a web browser.

Sorry about the late response, I have been on vacation. The DRAC has network access if it is pulling a DHCP address. It does not appear that you have access to the same network/subnet that the DRAC is on. There may be security restrictions on your network or simply a subnet that you do not have a route to. The issue does not appear to be with the DRAC but rather with the network.

Thanks

hi

that was the same subnet, it was a test setup in the office with a adsl switch, 3 connections on it, my PC (DHCP) the Server (DHCP) and the drac DHCP, all picking up 192.x addresses.

On friday i changed this to a real IP when i racked it in our colo centre, but the IP dont ping of DRAC4,  as i say i use drac all the time but Drac5-7 and they work fine, its just drac 4 i seen to have issues with :(

The OMSA screenshot from the R200 shows that you are configuring the BMC and not the DRAC. The BMC does not have a web server and does not respond to ICMP requests.

iDRACs add functionality to the BMC, so iDRACs and BMCs are the same physical hardware. The hardware you install for an iDRAC is simply a bridge device similar to a RAID key that turns on functionality. DRACs(5 and older) are independent pieces of hardware that work in tandem with a BMC.

Boot to the the CTL D DRAC 4 BIOS and set the IP address there. CTL E enters the BMC BIOS.

Most racadm functions are backwards and forwards compatible, so give it a shot, it will probably work.
