DRAC 5 Issues

Question

I have a PE 2950 running RHEL AS3 update 6. It has a DRAC 5 card and I am having issues getting it configured properly. The previous systems that I used DRAC on were PE 2650's with the DRAC 3. I was able to telnet to the card and type ' connect video ' on the DRAC 5, I don't have that option. Only ' connect -bh com2 '. When I connect -bh com2 and boot the server, I initially get the splash with access to the bios and startup screens but once the os starts to boot, I get no more text to the screen and loose functionalty of keyboard input.  Is there some magic combo of settings in the bios to make this work?   Thanks

the telnet console is text mode only.  Sounds like when GRUB (graphic mode) is loaded you are loosing the console.  For continuous video you will need to view the console from inside the GUI, this will load an activex control that does provide continuous video

On the 2650's that we use with the DRAC 3, when you connect video you get a text console. Not a graphic display.

James-   Thanks. That did the trick.  It is not exactly the same presentation as the DRAC 3 but it is definately useable. I am guessing that has something to do with the terminal being ansi vice vt100.   Ed
