Email Alerts Setup - OpenManager Server Administrator - Email From Field
Hello
I have setup the smtp as follows:
And below; ( Why does it enter the entire email in the From: field?) I just want to enter a user name. The from field is greyed out.
Question: Why/How cannot I modify the From: Field?

Hello
The from field is created from the user name logged into OMSA and the value put into the DNS Suffix for SMTP Server(username@DNSsuffix). This field is not modifiable during email creation. The email capabilities of OMSA may not be feature rich enough to perform what you are wanting. We have other management products that may have more options.

Thank you Daniel for your response.
Yes, I had that feeling that it we can't modify it. We have 3 Dell Servers and what I am looking for is to get email alerts on various actions from these servers. Such as if there is a hardware failure of any kind on these servers they email us. Can this not be achieved with the current OMSA we have? If not what product can you recommend?

The iDRAC would be much better than OMSA. There are many reasons the iDRAC would perform this action better. The iDRAC has a more robust email feature as well. The iDRAC manual may be on the system support page. If it is not on that page then you can locate it on the iDRAC support page.
