When I go to setup a ranage I get the following error:
Invalid Data:
The Global Configuration table contains no data. The Network Monitoring Service cannot perform discovery unless this issue is rectified. You may rectify the situation by using the dcdbmg.exe utility.
I have found the dcdbmng.exe utility and it has a /G switch to repair the Global Config, but this does not appear to work or the syntax displayed in the help file is wrong.
I have sent an email to dell, but I have not heard anything as of yet.
If someone has seen this before I sure would appreciate the help. Because, there does not seem to be a lot of documentation on this problem.
For starters lets clarrify the hardware. I updated 10 1855 blades in a chassis (ITA calls it a Module.) They needed a FRU and BMC upgrade, which is packed on Dells download site. I downloaded it to my system, anywhere safe for downloads is fine.
Now I lauch ITA and select Manage and select Software updates.
Right Click on IT Assistant Repository and select Add.
Navigate to you the package that you downloaded.
ITA will know what type of systems the package is for. e.x. It created a folder called PE 1855 for PowerEdge 1855.
Now select Manage and select Tasks. Expand Tasks and select Software Updates. Right Click and select New Task.
Follow the Wizard it is very self explanitory. At the end tell it when to execute now or schedule it.
I have SQL 2005 running on the exact same system as IT Assistant 7.2. It is now running fine. I was able to run my Discoveries and Inventories last night. I have run 2 BIOS upgrades without issue. It appears work work fine for me.
That being said, there are a few PDF's on the web that give a step by step to use seperate SQL server. It appeared pretty easy to do. But, I wanted them both on the same computer. So far, so good.

Bill,
I found this in another discussion. At the very bottom is a fix that worked perfectly for me.
It is very easy and does not take too much time.

Thanks!

I have the same issue and found it to be that I was using a SQL 2005 database on the server or workstation.
Hope this helps.

So...does that mean this won't work with SQL 2005? Did you try the mentioned fixes?
Thanks!
Does Dell ever respond?

Did you do the bios update via ITA? Could you give a brief how to on that. I am sure most people here are still learning this app like me.
TIA
