iDRAC configuration
hi,
we have a BlueCoat CMC hardware appliance running on Dell PowerEdge R630 Rack Server and we want to configure out-of-band management for it. Quoting from the CMC admin guide "If Security Analytics software is installed on a Dell Server, consult Dell iDRAC user documentation to obtain this same funtionality".
So, there's the iDRAC8 Enterprise port:
But in the same Dell PowerEdge R630Owner's Manual it's written that a license is required to use it ??
And there's also a iDRAC Direct micro USB port on the front panel:
Which one can I use ? Where do I require a license and how to check if it's present or not?
Thanks for all help in advance!

Adabud,
In order to use the Dedicated iDrac Nic port, as well as Virtual Console and Virtual Media, you have to have the Enterprise license. Otherwise the iDrac traffic would need to be configured as the Shared port, which would be sharing one of the NIC ports with the iDrac traffic. The Micro USB/iDrac Direct port is used as
iDRAC Direct — Securely connect directly to iDRACWeb UI via USB Cable in front of the server.
iDRAC Direct (USB) — Offers the convenience of USB keys to install new hardware configurations to Dell 13G servers
Let me know if this helps clarify things.

Hi Chris,
thank you for your input! Is there any way to check whether the Enterprise license is installed? If not, then would it mean that there's no dedicated interface for out-of-band management? If we have a Express License are we then still accessing iDRAC via the LOM1 interface(NIC1?) or is it a different type of connection ? I mean we can access iDRAC in various ways like iDRAC web Interface, RACADM, LC, SSH, are than the same connections ways preserved ? How would I check the iDRAC Version ?
Many thanks,
Adam

There are two locations, you can open the iDrac web interface and it should show as Enterprise or Express on the title bar, as well as it will list under License in the tree to the left. You can see both locations below.
