iDRAC6 drops conection on server reboot (cold & warm)

Hi All,

Just posting this as we have a new dell r710 server with a iDRAC6 - Enterprise installed, It's all configured and on the network in a Shared mode but each time I reboot the server to get to the BIOS or load up an image the iDRAC will drop it's connection and by the time I get back on (have to wait for the iDRAC  to start pinging again) I have missed all the POST boot stuff.

Just need to know if anyone has come across this before from what i understand I can run this in a Dedicated mode but when I select this option we cannot ping the iDRAC at all until we move it back to Shared. I have also updated the firmware to 1.50 and have logged a call with DELL to see if we cannot sort this out.

Also just for a sanity check we should be able to see the server boot up and not have the iDRAC drop it connection just like a HP ILO?

Thanks in Advance for any help.

Thanks for posting!  If you want to run the iDRAC NIC in Dedicated mode, you need to plug an ethernet cable into the iDRAC's NIC.  You will find a separate NIC with a wrench icon over it on the back of the server.  I think on that system it is close to the left side if you look at it from the back.
