The message results when you have more than one SNMP community name configured and the "Send Authentication Trap" in SNMP properties is checked. If you uncheck "Send Authentication Trap" this message will disappear, however it may be an idea to check your SNMP configuration.

Is the "check mark" used for anything of value. It's enabled by default.

SNMP Authentication (Optional) - Controls the sending of SNMP authentication failure notifications. An authenticationFailure(4) trap signifies that the sending device is the addressee of a protocol message that is not properly authenticated. The authentication method depends on the version of SNMP being used. For SNMPv1, authentication failure occurs for packets with an incorrect community string . For SNMPv2 or SNMPv3, authentication failure occurs for packets with an incorrect MD5 authentication key.

The IT assistant is doing a status poll every hour and for every server generates the following twice:
Device:CGXFOS1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, Service Tag:xxxx, Asset Tag:, Date:08/31/05, Time:12:34:52:000,
Severity:Critical, Message:Authentication Failure
Have check the SNMP service on the services and there only appears to be a single community configured.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
