Me to, have IT Assistant running on a W2Ksp4 Pro PC with MSDE Database. It is used for monitoring our desktop pc's and laptops. Trying to connect to IT Asistant PC from IE on my XP Pro PC, get prompted to install IT Assistant which I accept and then it stops before password box appears with 'Control Not Yet Initiated' error message.
I installed the new version as well. I can now use this on my 2003 server but the IT assistant portion must be loaded on every workstation that I need as a management station. I cannot figure out how to view with a web page either.
The new version if IT Assistant v6.5, no longer has the web interface. Recomendations are to use terminal services or similar software to access the machine.
Little dissappointed to, web interface was very useful for connecting back into IT Assistant while out in the field, was definitely a better option than having to install IT Assistant before being able to connect.
What version of IT Assistant were you guys having trouble with before installing 3.6, I had 3.4 installed and would consider using 3.5 if the web interface worked with XP
Seems odd that the ArrayManager, BIOSFlashCabs and Drac2 components are still driven via a web interface.
I installed the IT Assistant portion without the connection service on my laptop and was able to work just as if it was web driven but the web portion was nice. Wish they did not do away with it.
You are running IT Assistant v6.4.4. 6.5 does not create a web site in IIS like 6.4.4 did. The new openmange suite version 3.6 includes ITA v6.5, Server Admin v.1.6, etc. You had suite v3.5 which has ITA v6.4.4 and Server Admin v.1.5, etc ITA v6.5 does not make a website like 6.4.4 did.
One thing that confuses many people is the versions in OpenManage. Each version of OM is released in a CD suite of all OM apps. The current suite is version 3.6. Om suite v3.6 has Server Administrator v1.6, and IT Assistant version 6.5, This is the version that has done away with the website that ITA created. The previous version of the suite is v3.5 that has Server Asministrator v1.5 and IT Assistant v6.4.4 which has the web interface. If you must have the web interface just use version 6.4.4, it's not that much different. 6.5 primarily addresses problems with MS server 2003. If you are using w2k3 then you may want to consider purchasing a DRAC 3 card for full console redirect and remote boots that will allow you BIOS LEVEL CONTROL.
I had the same problem with our IT Assistant. To solve it, I had to uninstall KB896727. Can someone from Dell acknowledge this, that this IE update causes IT Assistant to fail?! Is there a fix for this, so that we can install the KB896727 and still use the web-based IT Assistant?! We need to use the web-based because different departments use the console, and we cannot install the newer appl-version on all consoles!
Was a resolution to this problem (copied below) posted? Thank you.

The interface is better. One problem, how do you setup the web page. Mine is not working.
Thanks,

I believe the web portion is configured within IIS. But I don't know where the link needs to point.

I was using 3.5 and it worked with XP and 2000 machines. The web interface would not work with Windows Server 2003 which I run on my laptop.
