IT Assistant Problems

HELP! This is a weird one! I have two servers that are load balanced using the network load balancing service in Windows Server 2003. Both servers have dual network cards. One card is used for management and the other has the NLB service bound to it. I am using SNMP to manage these servers with OpenManage IT Assistant 6.5; however, when I do a discovery on the IP range the first server (we will call it server A) links up and shows up briefly in the Systems list and then disappears when the second server (we will call it server B) links up. If you enter specific IP addresses into the discovery range and discover the servers one by one, server A will remain in the Systems list until a discovery is run on server B. Their is no IP address that is in conflict. Does IT Assistant have a problem with load balanced servers? I have 10 other servers being managed through the console and these two are the only ones that behave this way. Any one have any ideas?

Thanks,

Heath

I am experiencing the same problems with discovery. I am not load balancing however, but I have servers that will appear and then are replaced with the next server. It appears as if the last server in wins and show up on IT Assistant.

Please help!

I actually found the resolution to this awhile ago.  For the life of me I can recall what the fix was.  I know it was an option in one of the config files.  I'll look around and see if I can figure it out.

I am having the same problem (6 load balanced servers), servers show up/disappear one by one, only leaving the last one.

Of course, seeing how this thread has been open for a full year and no updates, I can only assume Dell isn't acknowledging the user community problems and they just continue to move forward on with what they think is important.

I just found the file we made the config change to for the fix.  There is a document out there somewhere but I can't find it.  The change was made in the dconfig.ini file on the line that starts with

DUPLICATE_NAME_EXCLUDE_LIST=

You basically just have to put in the individual mac addresses for the servers that are having issues.

Sorry I couldn't be any more help with the document for the specific resolution.  I see you fixed yours with an upgrade anyway.

Just an FYI for everyone, I just upgraded to IT Assistant v7 and the problem seems to have been resolved.
